Brief Background to the Mathematical Discoveries
Brief Background to the Mathematical Discoveries
From 1998 - Dec 1999 Eamonn Smyth had returned to his homeland in Southern Ireland, bought a couple of acres not far from the family farm. Having retrieved an old 486 and a loose linux disc, Eamonn constructed a development box and resolved to teach himself C, so that for any future development projects, Eamonn could eliminate the reliance on other people when doing work.
For 2 years straight Eamonn set an impossible task which was to compress a Word 16bit to a Byte 8bit. This fruitless and foolish endeavour served to challenge my mind, stretching it in all directions. During this period I developed Encryption/Compression systems and realized that the two functions of software were similar. Consider it 65,536 to 256.
Post Millennium 2000 - 2005 during various R&D endeavours, finally ending in a 6 month on paper mathematics exercise I embarked upon something, risky, unknown and clearly had I failed would have proved a costly loss, both financially and in terms of my personal time.
Whilst developing wads located @ ephp.org, I refused to accept current bloated solutions into my 15kb application development system and downed tools. I said their had to be a better way of doing this and that was mathematically.
Aware of the importance should I find a solution, I dated all of my failures up to the Eureka Day and that was an awesome feeling. I then turned to the computer to replicate the maths in a pc and soon realized that all of my work had been a complete waste of time. The method employed on paper which I use to teach the maths now, was so inefficient it had no practicable purpose.
On the verge of giving up, it occurred to me that their was a little trick I could pull in the computer and it jumped into super efficiency territory. When you view the graphic from the internal state of my machine, it can only be described as awesome, to be the first in human kind to see it was an awe inspiring experience. It is my personal conjecture that P=NP, if I am proved right another Millennium Maths Prize will have been solved.
Wrestling to hold on to my mind through this whole process, I once again downed my tools. I have flirted with primes and am convinced my maths are the maths of everything. The first Lesson I teach is the "Significance of Zero", basically you cannot create everything unless you start with nothing. Break this rule and the maths will fail. The only other mistake you can make is to ask the wrong question from my machine and you will receive the wrong answer, that is a mathematical certainty.
My formula is beautiful, recursive and simple, given the Human mind is keen to over complicate things, I am motivated by simplicity. Free of currently accepted bounds.
Just a brief background to the discovery, for those that are interested.
